23 Oct 2024 Comet Photo by John GM8OTI

On this evening’s chat on 144MHz I mentioned the much-hyped comet; here’s my photo, cropped to remove caravans and lighting, and processed a little to make it a bit lighter. Exposure 1s (on a tripod, no drive), f/1.8 portrait lens. The tail is about 9 or 10 degrees long. Quite nice in a photo, but you can see it’s not long after sunset; it was hard to see visually (just a smudge), but with binoculars it was clearly a comet. The clouds were very pesky, and this is the best I managed out of about 20 exposures.
