Cedric F5PSR from the south of France contacted the secretary prior to coming to Edinburgh for an English language brush-up course in connection with his job as an air traffic controller at his local airport. On arrival in Edinburgh contact was made with Alan GM3PSP on 2m FM and a meeting was arranged at the Waiting Room at Morningside where Cedric was introduced to Scottish beer (Tennants)!
After lunch we walked to the nearby Morningside cemetery and paid tribute to Sir Edward Appleton, the discoverer of the ionosphere, who died in Edinburgh 50 years ago. (see article below).
Cedric’s visit to Edinburgh was only one week but he hopes to return here with his family before long. A bientot!
